Lent: Beyond Chocolate

Deepening Our Commitment to Jesus During Lent

Preaching Series: February 21 - "I Am Calling YOU." We are called to follow Jesus and become disciples. Prayer helps us to discern what each of us, with our unique gifts and talents can do personally to advance the work of the Kingdom of God.

1% Prayer Challenge: Pray 1% of each day. Sign up to receive suggestions and reflections by email (2-3 per week), and a bracelet as a tangible reminder.

During Lent, the Church asks us to surrender ourselves to prayer and to the reading of Scripture, to fasting and to giving alms.

Each Sunday the homily reflects on one aspect of this commitment: prayer, discipleship, inclusiveness, compassion or mercy.

The fasting that we all do together on Fridays is a sign of the daily Lenten discipline of individuals and households: fasting from certain foods, but also fasting from other things and activities. Likewise, the giving of alms is some effort to share this world equally—not only through the distribution of money, but through the sharing of our time and talents. We hope to make this Lent more meaningful than ever for our community, through reflection on the Sunday readings, both in Mass and in our individual or group prayer experiences. Please join us in making this year a very special Lent, as we live Jesus in our hearts.
