Faith Formation
The CTSF is a long-term project, incrementally implemented over a period of several years. Elements of this project in-
clude the addition of lectures of significant interest to the wider academic community; a replicable program for sacramen-
tal prep which could be used by other institutions; opportunities for student internships in ministry and fellowships which
emphasize Catholic leadership, live streaming or video replication of lectures and symposia from other campus ministry
sites; further student-initiated courses; and, a dynamic and interactive and engaging on-line learning platform. Eventually,
we hope to be a place, both on-the-ground and on-line:
>
Where there is a well-organized, thoughtful and accessible pathway to study the teachings of Jesus and their application
in the Church and the world, especially in the areas of social justice,
>
Where individuals create and pursue their own spiritual paths and support one another in this endeavor,
>
Where members of the CC@S community connect and collaborate with friends of other faith traditions, breaking
down barriers and strengthening our spiritual bonds,
>
Where the CC@S stays connected in spirit with alumni and friends around the world, extending our reach as an ex-
panding and inclusive community of faith, and
>
Where we can enhance the understanding the CC@S is a significant presence in and contributor to the life of the Stan-
ford University Community.

The mission of the CC@S is to develop and form well educated, passionate and faithful Catholic leaders in order
to bring positive change to their disciplines, communities, Church and world. To further this mission, CC@S has
created a resource available to the staff, students and permanent community, called the Center for Theological
and Spiritual Formation (CTSF). CC@S envisions the center as an umbrella organization through which to offer a
broad, ambitious range of programs and services, all designed to help us nurture the formation of compassion-
ate Catholic leaders and create and deliver programs and resources characterized by serious and sound theol-
ogy, intellectual integrity and love for the Church, and a profound awareness of our responsibility to preserve
and pass on Catholic Tradition. This requires that we offer teaching that goes beyond simple answers to complex
questions; it requires a study that is nuanced and robust, and worthy of the Stanford academic setting. This
academic year, the first phase of the CTSF will provide several new opportunities for learning and growth which
enhance our ongoing liturgical, spiritual, theological programming by providing a curricular template into which
our intellectual offerings fit, by providing access to a high level series of classes and lectures of interest to a
broad spectrum of the CC@S population, and by using available and emerging technologies to reach those who,
up until now, have not been active participants in our programs.
