“The Universe as Epiphany:
Teilhard de Chardin’s Discovery of the Heart of God in All Creation”

Sixty years after the death of the great Jesuit paleontologist and theologian Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Ursula King presents an examination of his mysticism based on science and the spiritual richness of evolution and modern cosmology.

Ursula King, STL (Paris), MA (Delhi), PhD (London), FRSA, is Professor Emerita of Theology and Religious Studies and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies, University of Bristol. She has published numerous books and articles, especially on gender issues in religions; method and theory; modern Hinduism; interfaith dialogue; spirituality; and the thought of Teilhard de Chardin.

The Catholic Community is happy to present this lecture as part of our Newman Nights series, in cooperation with the Stanford Office for Religious Life, Santa Clara University Office of the President, SCU Jesuit School of Theology, SCU Religious Studies Department, Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education, Program in Catholic Studies and the Santa Clara Jesuit Community.

The event is open to the public; admission is free of charge.
