Each Tuesday evening we offer presentations on the breadth and depth of Catholic Theology. Newman Nights are open to the entire community with special break-out sessions for RCIA, Confirmation, permanent community members, and students.

Tonight's speaker is Fr. Michael Dodds, OP Professor of Theology & Philosophy, Dominican School of Philosophy & Theology.

We will provide an overview of the central features of Gaudium et spes and then focus on its reception in the U.S. context over the past 50 years. We will present how the vision of the document inspired Catholic grassroots involvement in social justice movements and programs, even those not sponsored by Catholic institutions or with a specifically Catholic focus -- the primary case being the civil rights movement.
