All members of the community are invited to join what promises to be a lively conversation discussing J. F. Powers’s novel Morte d'Urban. Powers was a contemporary of Flannery O’Connor and one of the best and most admired American Catholic fiction writers of the midcentury. Morte d'Urban is generally considered his masterpiece, and it won the National Book Award in 1963. It is a comedy, often hilarious, and at the same time a moving and compassionate exploration of American mores and the religious life.
