The Catholic Community at Stanford University is a family of students, faculty, staff, administrators, their families, and local community members. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit and through a variety of social, educational, liturgical, and community service programs, we seek to form the Christian conscience, help members appropriate the Catholic faith, educate for justice, facilitate personal development, and form leaders for the future. We support the University's efforts to achieve its goals in keeping with our own traditions and in an environment of religious and cultural diversity. We are a personal parish in the Diocese of San Jose under the pastoral care of Dominicans and lay leaders.

FIRST COMMUNION CELEBRATION
On Sunday, May 4, we congratulate those children making their First Communion at the 10:30 am Mass: Samantha Ruzon, Emily Tomz, Hannah Wilcox, Buba Chung, Jacek Plonowski, Grace Shemwell, Alec Van Vleck and Madeline Tachibana. Blessings on you and your families!

SAVE THE DATE: DAY @ THE BEACH
Have fun in the sun with C@S! We will be hosting a day at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk...with a Catholic twist. Spend some time enjoying the sunshine as well as some time with God and fellow Catholics. The trip will be on Saturday May 17 from Noon-6pm. More details to come but in the meantime contact Estella (cestella@stanford.edu) with questions.

WEDNESDAY DISCUSSION SERIES
In the book of Revelation, the visionary is asked “Who are these, robed in white, and where have they come from?” After over a decade, people are used to seeing men and women in the distinctive Dominican habit around MemChu and the Catholic Community. But there is a lot more to the Dominicans than a cool habit. For example, did you know that Dominican Order is among the oldest thoroughly democratic societies in the history of the world? (Dominicans have been electing their superiors, including women, for 800 years.) Come and find out more interesting things about the Dominicans with Fr. Carl on Wednesday, May 7 in the Old Union Common Room at 7:30 pm.

CROSSROADS FELLOWSHIP
We meet every Tuesday at 8pm on the 3rd Floor of Old Union, Common Room. If you’re interested in finding out more about it or want to try it out, we’ll see you on Tuesday. For more information, contact Chris Hammen (chammen@stanford.edu).

GRADUATION MASS ANNOUNCEMNTS
The Catholic Graduation Mass Announcements are here! If you would like to include the Catholic Graduation Mass Announcement (3x5 cards that have the dates and times of the Catholic Masses on Saturday June 14th) in your general graduation announcement, please pick up as many as you need from the Interns. Our office is located on the Third Floor of Old Union, Room 305. The announcements will be placed on a labeled wooden flyer stand right outside our office so if we’re not in the office, feel free to grab them. E-mail the Interns with any questions.

GRADUATE STUDENT FELLOWSHIP
The Graduate students will be having their weekly fellowship this coming Tuesday May 6th at 8 PM in the Seminar Room on the Third Floor of Old Union. We will be discussing how to get the most out of reading “The Book,” the Bible, and how to interpret what you read. All are welcome to join us. Please e-mail John (jhammen@stanford.edu) with any questions.

GRAD/POST DOC PUB NIGHT
Join GC@S at the Rose and Crown’s Trivia Night on Tuesday May 13th from 7:30-10:00 pm. Join a team or just be a spectator as teams try to answer fun and oftentimes obscure trivia. The Rose and Crown is located at 547 Emerson in Palo Alto, off University. The first round will be on us but you don’t have to drink to come and hang out with us. Rides will be available and let us know if you can drive. Email one of the Interns with questions, if you need a ride or can offer one.

ROSARY
Students meet daily to pray the rosary at 10 PM in Wilbur west dining hall (Tuesday through Sunday) and on the third floor of Old Union during Eucharistic Adoration (Monday), as well as at 5:45 PM on Sunday afternoons in the interns. office on the third floor of Old Union. All are welcome to join us; no experience with the rosary is necessary. Please consider taking the time to deepen your spiritual life with this traditional Catholic prayer. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Charlie Capps (ccapps@stanford.edu).

CCAS HOSTS DIOCESAN PEACE AND JUSTICE GATHERING
All are invited to meet on Saturday, May 17 with colleagues from the diocese and other parishes who are interested in peace and justice issues. Our gathering aims to help us more effectively share information, talents, and resources; to engage in mutual encouragement; and to develop joint projects. The gathering will begin at 8:30 am with a Mass in the Sanctuary, then move to the Common Room, both on the third floor of the Old Union, for information sharing sessions and lunch. For more information, please contact Ed Ehmke (ehmke@stanford.edu).

COMMUNITY PRAYERS
