Come join the thousands of volunteers around the Bay Area who will help those in need at various sites on the Peninsula. Food and t-shirts provided along with a thank you BBQ dinner afterward. Contact Larry (hudat@stanfordalumni.org).

SINGERS
We would love to have some more singers at the 4:30 and 10:30 Masses. Rehearsals are on Wednesday nights. There is an upcoming retreat planned with Bob Hurd. We have a lot of fun--and there's cookies at rehearsal! For information contact Teresa (tpleins@stanford.edu).

INFANT BAPTISMS
The spring quarter baptisms will be celebrated on Sunday, May 11, during and immediately following the 4:30 Mass in Memorial Church. There is a preparation class on Saturday, April 26, 10-11:30 a.m., at our Annex on Stanford Avenue. The Catholic Community at Stanford celebrates baptisms for families of students, faculty, staff, post-docs, and members of our community who have been registered for at least one year. Currently there are quite a few families already signed up for the May baptisms. Unless there is a pressing need, we are encouraging families to consider the summer baptism date, July 27. For more information, contact Teresa (tpleins@stanford.edu).

EYES WIDE OPEN COMES TO PALO ALTO
Saturday, May 3, 10am - Sunday, May 4, 6pm, Kings Plaza, corner of Hamilton & Ramona, Palo Alto. Eyes Wide Open, the American Friends Service Committee's widely acclaimed exhibition on the human cost of the Iraq War, features a pair of boots honoring each U.S. military casualty from California (about 450), a labyrinth of civilian shoes to memorialize the Iraqis killed in the conflict, and a display exploring the history, cost and consequences of the war. Individuals, families and friends are invited to honor and grieve for lost loved ones and strangers, near and far. The exhibit creates a sacred place for prayer, meditation, reflection, sorrow and commitment to build a world of peace. Most of the time the vigil area is silent, with occasional quiet prayers, music, and conversation. Learn more about the exhibit or volunteer for a 2 hour shift with a team of 4 at the exhibit.

FAITH IN ACTION
The Church works in both Sacramento and Washington to bring Catholic values to proposed legislation. You can become better informed and help affect the process at key times by signing up to receive electronic news letters and action alerts. Sign up for the national list with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops or the California Catholic Conference (the policy arm of the California dioceses). We can make a difference!
