MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR RAY PELTIER
There will be a memorial service for Ray Peltier on Sunday, February 24,
following the 4:30 Mass in Memorial Church. Ray was a much-loved member of
our community, whose spirit remains with us each Sunday as we gather. You
are most welcome to come and honor his memory during this special service.

PRAYERS NEEDED
One of our community members has just been diagnosed with a recurrence of
cancer. Please pray for her and her family as she begins another regimen
of chemotherapy.
CCAS OFFICES CLOSED
The CCAS offices will be closed Monday, February 18 in observance of the
Presidents' Day Holiday. There will be no office hours, no scheduled
confessions and no daily liturgy. As always if you need a priest for an

INTERN INFO SESSION
Ever wondered what Andrew and Estella do every day, besides hand out
chapstick and make hot chocolate? Come find out what the Catholic Intern
position is all about this Wednesday, February 20 at 9pm on the 3rd floor
of Old Union, Common Room. The position is open to current seniors but we
encourage anyone interested to come hear what the job is all
about. Preferred application deadline is March 21. Submit a resume and a

LAS VEGAS SERVICE TRIP
We are currently accepting applications for the Catholic Community at
Stanford's annual Spring Break service trip! Due to the final exams and
Holy Week overlap this year, instead of traveling to Mexicali, Mexico, we
will be working for the St. Therese Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The
St. Therese Center provides food and services to people afflicted with
AIDS/HIV. The dates for the trip are Saturday, March 22 to March 29, with
Easter celebrations taking place at Stanford. The cost is $75,
scholarships available. Deadline for the (short) application is Monday,

CROSSROADS CATHOLIC FELLOWSHIP
Join us this week as we look at the relationship between faith and
money. CrossRoads aims to assist students in realizing the Christian ideal
put forward in the Gospels: to love God with all one's heart, soul, mind
and strength, and to love one's neighbor as oneself. Next meeting is
Tuesday, 7-8PM, room 216C on the 2nd floor of Old Union. For more

BUSY PERSONS RETREAT
This year's Busy Persons Retreat begins Sunday, March 2 at 5:45pm and
concludes on Thursday at 5pm. This retreat is perfect for those who cannot
go away for an entire weekend but still want to take the time to reflect,
pray, and meditate. Meet each day with a Spiritual Director for 30 minutes
and pledge to spend another 30 minutes in prayer alone. We will match you
with Spiritual Directors who can work around your schedule and you will
decide with your Director the specific meeting times each day. If you are
interested in applying, please fill out a registration form, available
after mass or via e-mail from one of the Interns. Registration deadline is

DISCUSSION SERIES WITH FR. NATHAN
Father Nathan continues his weekly discussion series on various religious
topics this week, concluding a two-part topic entitled "Behind the Scenes:
Celebrating Mass." Come learn why we do what we do every Sunday! As
always, it's Wednesday from 7:30-9pm on the Third Floor of Old Union,
Common Room.
GRAD/POST DOC RETREAT
This year's retreat takes place February 22-24 in Lafayette, CA. Themed
"God's universe and your place in it: A Catholic Christian cosmology",
Fr. Nathan will tackle the big questions in life from the Catholic
perspective. Cost is $40, scholarships available. Contact Andrew

RICE BOWLS AND LENTEN BOOKS
Now that we are in the time of Lent, the interns will be distributing
Lenten prayer books and rice bowls to aid the hungry around the
world. Look for us after Mass this Sunday or drop by the office. Contact

ROSARY
Students meet daily to pray the rosary at 10 PM in Wilbur west dining hall
(Tuesday through Sunday) and on the third floor of Old Union during
Eucharistic Adoration (Monday), as well as at 5:45 PM on Sunday afternoons
in the interns. office on the third floor of Old Union. All are welcome to
join us; no experience with the rosary is necessary. Please consider
taking the time to deepen your spiritual life with this traditional
Catholic prayer. If you have any questions or would like more information,

DUMAINE LECTURE BY RENE GIRARD: "THE GOSPELS AS A SOURCE OF
KNOWLEDGE"
Rene Girard, a longtime member of the Stanford faculty, is a Catholic
philosopher and critic of international renown. His books include
Things Hidden Since the Foundation of the World, I See Satan
Fall Like Lightning, and The Girard Reader. As we reflect of
the Passion of Our Lord in preparation for Holy Week and Easter, we are
honored to present a Lenten meditation by Prof. Girard on "The Gospels as
a Source of Knowledge." His talk will be on MONDAY, FEBRUARY 25TH at 7:30
pm in the SANCTUARY, 3rd floor in the Old Union. All are invited to
attend.
WHITE MASS
CCAS will hold its first White Mass and reception honoring the service of
those in the health professions on Monday, April 14, at 5PM in the
Memorial Church. Details to follow.
PRAYER PARTNERS
When good or bad news happens, the rest of the community
would really like to share your joy or support you in difficult
times. We would like to start putting in the bulletin the
names of those who would like us to pray for them and for
their families, for whatever reason. Simple e-mail Chaplain Nancy

Wednesday mornings, and she will make sure it gets in the

PIA NEW CITIZENS CAMPAIGN
Peninsula Interfaith Action (PIA), in partnership with its Bay Area PICO
affiliate organizations and Univision, is sponsoring a the Time is Now!
New Citizenship Drive Campaign. We need English speakers, Spanish
speakers, and bilingual volunteers to help with the kickoff event on
Saturday, February 23, 11:30 at El Buen Pastor Church (St. Peter's
Episcopal Church), 178 Clinton Street, Redwood City. Lawyers will be
present to assist with the citizenship process, and there will be a "Know
Your Rights" presentation of legal rights in the event of ICE/immigration
Raids. Volunteers must attend a PIA Training Session on Tuesday, February
12th, at 7pm at Woodside Road United Methodist Church, 2000 Woodside Rd,
