Who We Are

Fr. Xavier Lavagetto

I was raised in the Bay Area by a local businesswoman mother and a professional baseball player father, Cookie Lavagetto. I received an undergraduate degree from St. Mary's College and a Masters in Divinity from the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology. Having entered the Christian Brothers in 1965, I spent my years as "Br. X," teaching high school, serving at a retreat house, and as the director of the Newman Center at Cal Poly. My vows were transferred to the Dominican Order in 1995 and I went to St. Dominic’s in San Francisco where I served for 17 years, 14 of them as pastor. During that time, I established a lay leadership structure, promoting Gallup's Strength Finders' Program as well as the Called & Gifted Workshop. When not working, I love to go scuba diving with my brother and sister-in-law.

Parochial Vicar/Associate Director
Lourdes & John at the Rose Bowl
Campus Minister, Undergraduate & Graduate Students

I’m a Chicago native and graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Business Administration/Marketing. My former career in business helped form me for a vocation in ministry. I am pursuing an M.A. in Pastoral Ministry/Spirituality at Santa Clara University. It is a privilege to serve as the Campus Minister working with grads and undergrads, and sharing the Gospel message of God’s love and mercy. My husband John and I love sports, traveling, camping, watching movies and getting to as many music festivals as we can. You can find us at many Stanford sporting events... GO CARDINAL!

Chaplain; Dir. of Liturgy & Music; Family Faith Formation; Children's Baptism

The Catholic Community at Stanford has been my home since 1995. I have a B.A. from San Jose State University, and an M.A. in Pastoral Ministry/Liturgy from Santa Clara University. Work outside this community includes retreats, teaching, and workshops on liturgy, preaching, scripture, gender studies and playing with my seven children.

Chaplain; Director of Catholic Wedding Preparation

I have been a chaplain for the Catholic Community at Stanford since 1983. My undergraduate degree was in Latin and Greek, and I have an M.A. degree in Pastoral Theology. My duties include Catholic wedding preparation and administration for the Center for Theological and Spiritual Formation. I am the author of Songs of Life: Psalm Meditations from the Catholic Community at Stanford, published in 2004.

Deacon John Kerrigan
Chaplain; ESTEEM

My wife Elizabeth and our three children have been parishioners in the Catholic Community at Stanford since 2001.  I was ordained to the diaconate in May 2012, and was pleased to be assigned to serve here at CC@S.  My other roles include investment management (I manage the Santa Clara University Endowment and teach in the SCU Business School) and board work (Trustee of BlackRock's iShares ETF complex; Director of the BASIC Fund - Bay Area Scholarships for Inner City Children).  Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, friends, and students here at Stanford.

Director of Development

I have been a parishioner of Stanford's Catholic Community since childhood (a very long time ago!). I received an A.B. in English from Stanford (1985) and a J.D. from Santa Clara University (1991). Prior to joining the staff at CC@S, I taught middle school English, practiced intellectual property and business law and was Director of Development at Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton. I have two high school-aged daughters, Grace and Claire.

Bulletin and Web Editor

Born in Rosario, Argentina I have resided in Menlo Park since 1967. I joined the CCAS and the choir in 1996 and contribute with bass vocals, guitar and drums. I was a member of Los Payadores, a South American folk group for 20 years. I attended Foothill College and San José State for Mechanical Engineering. I worked at Raychem as Manufacturing Engineer for 23 years. I also obtained a BSBA at Notre Dame Belmont. I do translation work (Spanish-English) and am the House Manager for Teatro Visión in San José. As a part time I edit the Bulletin and Web pages and manage the CCAS property on Stanford Avenue.
