Who We Are

Fr. Xavier Lavagetto
Pastor/Director

I was raised in the Bay Area by a local businesswoman mother and a professional baseball player father, Cookie Lavagetto. I received an undergraduate degree from St. Mary's College and a Masters in Divinity from the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology. Having entered the Christian Brothers in 1965, I spent my years as "Br. X," teaching high school, serving at a retreat house, and as the director of the Newman Center at Cal Poly. My vows were transferred to the Dominican Order in 1995 and I went to St. Dominic’s in San Francisco where I served for 17 years, 14 of them as pastor. During that time, I established a lay leadership structure, promoting Gallup's Strength Finders' Program as well as the Called & Gifted Workshop. When not working, I love to go scuba diving with my brother and sister-in-law.

Parochial Vicar/Associate Director
Lourdes & John at the Rose Bowl
Campus Minister, Undergraduate & Graduate Students

I’m a Chicago native and graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Business Administration/Marketing. My former career in business helped form me for a vocation in ministry. I am pursuing an M.A. in Pastoral Ministry/Spirituality at Santa Clara University. It is a privilege to serve as the Campus Minister working with grads and undergrads, and sharing the Gospel message of God’s love and mercy. My husband John and I love sports, traveling, camping, watching movies and getting to as many music festivals as we can. You can find us at many Stanford sporting events... GO CARDINAL!
